When Scuba’s first album, Antipathy was released in 2008, I noticed that this was no ordinary dubstep album. Truthfully, I’m not even certain it was a dubstep album. Sure, it was dark, but it was also melodic…and really, really beautiful.

The follow up, Triangulation, is a wonderful evolution from Antipathy. It falls comfortably in the borderland in-between techno and dubstep. Sure, Triangulation is murky, ala 2562, but it is profoundly murky. Lets say, murky with intention.

Just when you are lulled into a drone-induced stupor, Scuba reminds you that you are still stuck in traffic by unleashing icy kick drums that seem to come out of nowhere. The song Tracers comes to mind immediately for this reason. The overall production of the album is crisp, and the balance of texture and melody is spot on. Sure, it can be dark in places, but one can feel purpose in the darkness.

Scuba presents this darkness in the perfect light… balanced against the edge of clean beats and shimmering sub-sonic bass. I highly recommend this album.

Bel Vista is a track that really stands out in a dj set. Like every other track from David Keno and also Jaxson it is not really easy to classify. With the vocals of Adeline Supreme (someone we have mentioned here before) it finds its place somewhere between pop and tech-house. Not one of the usual dj tools but definitely a track that won’t be forgotten.

The remixes from Nico Lahs, Mario Aureo & Daniel Solar take it back to a more functional level with less vocals and housier beats. This package will definitely find many friends on the dancefloors around the world.

Since starting to DJ in 2004 Adeline Supreme has held various residencies in Stockholm, Sweden. As of 2006 she started the DJ duo Housewives together with La Fleur. Housewives have been receiving great recognition through conceptual thinking and exploding performances. Housewives has twice been awarded “Best Club”, in People Choice Awards 2007 and in the Scandinavian Music Convention 2008.

In 2008, she became a host for the dance radio show P3 Dans, on the Swedish National Radio. This is the biggest show in its genre in Scandinavia and features interviews with people like Steve Bug, Style of Eye, Busy P, Ellen Allien and Nôze.

At this moment the focus are the productions. A passion that has originally grown from dj’ing and is evolving to become something beyond that. She is involved in various collaborations and the first release Bel Vista is to be released on Keno Records in February 2010. Housewives are releasing the first material on Kinetika Records and a remix for the biggest Swedish rock band Kent on Sony Music in December 2009.

The 2 track release features music from a recent video collaboration with Yannick Joubert called “This Is Time Was” (video below).

His production styles typically range from indi/electronic to forward thinking techno and downtempo. This release features some fantastic blends of ghostly ambient tones, subtle spiritual beats and sharp stabs.

It is difficult to describe the style, but its an interesting distorted techno beats twisted with rock anthem drones with a sparkle of electro tweaks. Actually, that wasn’t too difficult at all!

We have added a selection of tracks to the dirtyRadio playlist rotation.

There is also a great podcast featuring a selection of 2gi’s back catalogue over at electronique.it.
